Breaking News: Tipster Reports Death at West Friendship Park and Ride

Police line do not cross at night

Source Reports Death in West Friendship

This morning, just after 9 am, the Howard Courier received a tip from an unnamed, but reliable source, regarding a death at the West Friendship Park and Ride. The report came in as a shooting where the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The story seemed straightforward and uncomplicated, so we ran a one-paragraph article regarding the update with the caveat that the Howard Courier would provide more information after confirmation from Howard County’s Police Department.

HCPD Response

This reporter sent a query to the the HCPD Public Information Office. Sherry Llewellyn, Director of Public Affairs for HCPD, responded quickly.  After the response from HCPD, we removed the article to avoid misinformation being reported.

Llewellyn said, “This was not a criminal matter so we don’t have any information to provide.”

Fire and Rescue Response

When we reached out to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services, Dave Woodbine, PIO directed us to inquire with the HCPD. When pressed, Woodbine acknowledged that there was a call to the location.

The Howard Courier will continue to follow this story with updates as they are made available.
