ELLICOTT CITY, MD – The Howard County Department of Public Works (DPW) will hold a community outreach meeting on Thursday, June 5th from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the media center at Jeffers Hill Elementary School, to discuss a project to replace the Old Montgomery Road bridge over the Lake Elkhorn Branch near 8910 Old Montgomery Road in Columbia.
The proposed project includes the replacement of the existing weight restricted, steel beam bridge with a new concrete bridge, improvements to the roadway approach, and the installation of new traffic barriers within the project limits. During the work, a temporary one-lane bridge will be installed to maintain traffic flow in the area. Currently in the design phase, with 30 percent design completion, the project is scheduled to commence construction in the spring of 2027 and weather permitting, be completed by that fall.
While there will be no formal presentation, the design plans will be available for public viewing and staff members will be on hand to explain the proposed work, answer any questions, and gather public comments.
Those unable to attend the meeting who would like to view the plans and/or have questions, should contact Prasoon Shrestha with DPW at 410-313-1879 or email pshrestha@howardcountymd.gov.
