Kimberly Prescott was recently named chair of Leadership Howard County

COLUMBIA, Md. — Leadership Howard County, which seeks to empower leaders to strengthen and transform the community, named Kimberly Prescott chair and appointed four new members to the board of directors.

Kimberly Prescott is founder and president of Prescott HR Inc., a human resources company based in Columbia. She graduated from Leadership Howard County’s Leadership Premier program in 2018 and Leadership Maryland’s Emerging Leader Program in 2023. Prescott has been recognized by the Baltimore Business Journal as one of the 2023 Enterprising Women of Excellence; The Daily Record as one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women in 2023; the Howard County Chamber of Commerce as the 2022 Businessperson of the Year; and I95 Business among the Women of Influence in 2019.

Active in the community, Prescott serves on the executive board of the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland; chairs the labor and employment subcommittee for the Howard County Chamber of Commerce; serves on the board of The 3rd; and is past board chair of the Community Foundation of Howard County.

Prescott joins the following Leadership Howard County board officers: Trevor Garner, past chair; Brendan Mahoney, divisional chair, operations and finance; Louann Magi, divisional chair, resource development; Suzi Padgett, secretary; and Paul Skalny, general counsel.

Leadership Howard County also appointed four new board members:

  • Ivy Gales is the senior business development representative for the Maryland Department of Commerce. She graduated from Leadership Howard County’s Leadership Premier program in 2020 and has a bachelor’s degree in integrative health services. She lives in Columbia.
  • Jennifer Jones is the CEO of the Howard County Economic Development Authority. She has a law degree and an MBA from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University. She lives in Howard County.
  • Lance Johnson is a vice president in corporate and institutional banking services for PNC Bank. He graduated from Leadership Howard County’s Leadership Premier program in 2022 and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Towson University. He lives in Ellicott City.
  • David Woodruff is the president and CEO of APL Federal Credit Union. He graduated from Leadership Howard County’s Leadership Premier program in 2020 and has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brigham Young University. He lives in Columbia.
