ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County Office of Transportation will hold a public meeting on Thursday, October 17th from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at The Other Barn, located at 5851 Robert Oliver Place in Columbia, to discuss a proposed Bicycle Master Plan project to install bike lanes on Thunder Hill Road from MD 175 to Sohap Lane.
“Through our BikeHoward Bicycle Master Plan, we are committed to bringing more bike lanes and multimodal facilities to communities across Howard County. To advance this goal, our Fiscal Year 2025 Capital Budget included $14.7 million in County funding for sidewalks, bike lanes, pathways and other Complete Streets infrastructure, as well as more than $15 million for critical road resurfacing projects,” said Howard County Executive Calvin Ball. “This commitment builds on our cumulative investment of more than $50 million in multimodal transportation projects during the last five years, reflecting an increase of approximately 300 percent since taking office in December 2018.”
The proposed bike lanes will connect to existing bike lanes that run along Thunder Hill Road from Sohap Lane to White Acre Road and existing bike lanes on Thunder Hill Road north of MD 175. While there will be no formal presentation, the concept plans will be available for public viewing and staff members will be on hand to explain the proposed work, answer any questions and gather public comments.
Immediately following the public meeting, the meeting materials will be available on the project website at https://bikehoward.com/
