ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County Executive Calvin Ball is currently seeking applicants interested in serving on the Public Works Board to support the plans and policies of the Department of Public Works. The deadline to apply is Friday, December 6, 2024.
“Public Works is responsible for reliable and accessible infrastructure for our community. By providing recommendations regarding the County’s public works policies and practices, this board helps ensure that we are providing needed services in the most effective way possible,” said Ball. “I encourage County residents to apply who are interested in our roads, water and sewer service, trash and recycling operations, or various engineering projects.”
Comprised of five members, the Board makes recommendations to the Director of Public Works, the County Executive and County Council regarding the plans and policies followed by the Department of Public Works.
To be eligible for consideration, candidates must be a Howard County resident, 18 years of age or older and be able to attend the Board’s meetings, held the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the George Howard Building, located at 3430 Court House Drive in Ellicott City.
The members of the Public Works Board serve the community by evaluating developer built public improvements to ensure a benefit to County residents and that our roads and infrastructure meet the County’s high standards.
Interested applicants should complete an application online by visiting www.howardcountymd.gov/applybc and selecting “Public Works Board” in the form. The names of eligible applicants will be submitted to the County Executive for consideration. If approved, the appointment will be forwarded to the County Council for confirmation.
