ELLICOTT CITY, MD – The Howard County Office of Transportation will hold a Transportation Open House on Thursday, January 30th from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the North Laurel Community Center, to discuss the planning, design, operations and maintenance of the County’s transportation systems. The event will also offer attendees the opportunity to learn more about the multitude of transportation options, modes, agencies and upcoming projects in Howard County.

“Across our community, our residents and visitors use a multitude of transportation options to walk, bike, drive, roll and ride to destinations in every corner of Howard County. During the last six years, we have invested record funding into multimodal transportation projects and public transportation to expand these options for our community,” said Howard County Executive Calvin Ball. “I invite you to join our County staff and local partners to learn more about projects on the horizon and lend your voice to creating a network of diverse transportation options for our community.”

In addition to the Office of Transportation, representatives from the County’s Police Department and Departments of Public Works (DPW) and Recreation & Parks, Howard County Public School System, Maryland Department of Transportation, Central Maryland Regional Transportation Agency (RTA), Baltimore Metropolitan Council and more will also be on hand to discuss transportation projects, programs and resources, as well as answer questions from the public.

“Creating and maintaining a safe and efficient multimodal transportation system for all users is a wide-ranging effort and I’m pleased so many of our partners will be able to join us at our second annual Transportation Open House,” said Clarence Dickerson, III, Administrator, Office of Transportation. “My office looks forward to continuing our work with our partners and community members to build upon the achievements of the past few years to ensure our transportation infrastructure is safe, convenient, and equitable for all.”

This annual event incorporates the previously held Active Transportation and Transportation Priorities Open Houses, as well as features additional topic areas, including transportation safety, transit and regional planning, roadway maintenance, and operations.
